Aetherium - Check it out!

Hey everyone, wanted to point out a great kickstarter just about to wrap up.  I wish I would have promoted it earlier, real life got in the way and distracted me!

One of the awesome blogs I follow, A Gentleman's Ones's Brian Niro has started up a real unique game called Aetherium.  It has some beautiful miniatures and a very different play style that should mix things up.

Looks like a great selection of miniatures and contents in the starter box.  I'm always up for a fun skirmish game among friends.

It has an always on action sequence which should be a more engaging playing style.  I like the back and forth action rather then long I go a full turn then you go a full turn of a big game like 40k (although I do love me some 40k).  The miniatures are absolutely gorgeous.  I'm tempted long term to pick some of the picketers up as civilians for Infinity scenarios as well.

Thoughts on Terrain

I'm still plodding away at adding to my Tau/Eldar 40k force (will probably be my Adepticon 2014 force), but I've really been lured in to doing terrain for other systems.  Since a group of us are getting into infinity, I'm looking at making a quick and dirty urban table.  I think I'll go with a similar concept to what CNC Workshop is doing with their City Tiles

I figure I could make 1 foot square tiles and do cool stuff to go on all of them.  That way I can have some good looking and fast streets as well.  I'd order from CNC Workshop but the freight and cost is just a little too pricey.

I'm also really loving the Spartan Games scale stuff.  We've had a blast playing uncharted seas, and I stumbled upon this demo table for Dystopian Wars.  HOLY CRAP!

Blog Props: Great Grey Knight Tutorial

Every so often I like to post an amazing blog tutorial or article that I've seen on the blogs I follow.  Not only does this how to paint grey knights tutorial do a great job detailing step by steps (better then the magazine articles) it uses the new GW paints which I'm sure are a mystery to those of us who haven't used them yet!

Check out  Stahly's Tale of Painters: How to Paint Grey Knights.  If you're not following his blog, I would highly recommend it. 

Plus it covers painting the force weapons, something I'm very interested in seeing that I may be trying my hand at Grey Knights for Nova.

I just finished up my 5 hellions, so as soon as I get the chance I'm going to prime up the 5 objective markers and begin on them.  The boats are half way finished, pictures incoming!

Great Article: Ways to Stay Creative

Every so often I read an inspirational blog post, and Roundwood's World never fails to disappoint.  He did a great article on "29 Ways to (try to) Stay Creative: A Wargamer's List".

If you get a minute, take the time to check out his blog.  I found #11 and #27 hit home!

I finished my Dark Eldar vehicles last night, all 5 venoms and the 2 Ravagers.  I'll be sure to post up pictures this week.  Now I'm on to working on infantry, on the docket are 4 Warriors and 6 Trueborn. 

Inspirational Dark Eldar: Rant in E Minor

I recently stumbled upon another blog that just blew me away in how he paints his Dark Eldar.  It's really making me rethink my choice of going with this army as a "fast paint" rather then taking my time like I do on armies like my Imperial Suns.  I digress...

Please check out Rant in E Minor.  His Trueborn are absolutely stunning.  If this doesn't make you want to get into Dark Eldar strictly for the models, you have a problem.

Needless to say, I'll be following this blog on a regular basis. 

This Saturday I've decided to scrap the whole crazy idea of taking foot Templar and go a little easier on myself and do a balanced Vanilla Marine force.  1,500 just works so much better with that.  Hopefully by the next AWC tournament I'll have the Dark Eldar ready to at least make a decent showing.
