Necrons for NOVA: Finished 2k!

Ta-da!  The finished displayed army of my Necron force for NOVA.  Here are a bunch of finished pictures of the army.

As you can see, I always like to make custom objective markers for my army.  I picked up some necron looking bases from Puppet Wars Miniatures, they make perfect objective markers.  I also made a necron looking homing beacon out of a necron shield and wraith weapon.

Tuesday I'll be creating a "pretty" looking army list to print out for the con... only a few days away.

Here's the final list I'm taking.  I just need to stay away from that damn harlequin archon eldrad death star.

DE Objective Markers Finished

Deep Breath... ah... almost finished with Adepticon prep.  At least it wasn't a late night last night and won't be tonight!  I finished up my 5 objective markers for my Dark Eldar army and the team tournament.  Here they are in all their glory!

I'll be heading over to Adepticon around 5pm tonight to set up our team tournament huge display board and drop off some things.  I'm hoping I get there relatively early to get the extra swag bag goodies.  I'll be sure to take lots of photos and post them up tonight.  Here's the start of my staging area to load up the jeep.  I'll be fitting the beer cart and a few more tables.

Just waiting for my three tables worth of army lists to dry.  I blotted out any of the excess ink this morning so they should be dry by 4 pm (I hope).

See you all at the convention, and for those of you not able to attend I'll be sure to post recaps with lots of pictures.

Odds and Ends for Adepticon

We're on to the home stretch for Adepticon. With work being potentially a little crazy next week I need to cram as much as I can into the weekend.  I'm making some serious progress knocking things out.  At least I am sorta smart by getting things done that require longer dry times.

I assembled the 5 objective markers.  Every army I do I make 5 since that tends to be the most we ever need.  These will be used for the 40k championship as well as the team tournament.  Basic but fun.  I need to add some sand to them when they dry and paint the suckers up.

I also painted up all of our vehicle "wreck 5" results.  Since Dark Eldar vehicles are not easy to take off the flying base and I don't want to hurt the models, we created templates that are about the right size for when they blow up to the wreck result #5.  Here are my painted venom and raider/ravagers.  We are also painting up a ton of craters for vehicle crater result #6.  My wife laughed and said they look like they have chicken pox. I agree, but at least it's better then not knowing if the vehicle is destroyed or breaking it on accident!

I finished my record-fast display board for the singles tournament.  It has to be the quickest and cheapest one I've done to date, but I really didn't have the time to do an elaborate one this year.  This will go on top of my rolling "beer cart".

Since we're planing on getting a lot of rain I was able to get all of our ships primed up and the barrels/extras for the unit.  Dan and I are heading over to the GW Chicago Bunker tomorrow to get my 2nd game of Warhammer (in 10 years) so I at least sorta know what I'm doing for the Warhammer team tournament.  We'll be attempting to do our ships in the course of a day as well.  I also primed up the blue boards that we'll paint up as sea boards for the 4 armies to be displayed on.

Tonight I should be able to finish all of my pirates, as crazy as that sounds.  It was definitely a speed paint job, but I think they've turned out OK.  I'll have pictures up of the finished project tomorrow.  The 5 hellions are the last I need to paint up for the Dark Eldar army, man... they keep mocking me.  Hellions are a piece of work to paint but I've really enjoyed them in game.

Back to painting, only 5 days left! My wife has been very understanding, I have literally taken over the house with everything and their various stages of being finished.  Here's what I have yet to do:

Dark Eldar

 - 5 Hellions (half painted at this point)
 - 5 Objective Markers (need to paint)
 - creative army list for championship (need to do ink effects)
 - creative army list for team tournament (need to finish ink effects)

Dwarf Pirates

 - 7 pirate "thunderers" (almost finished!)
 - paint ships as a display board
 - barricades to count as shields for my thunderer units
 - creative army list for the team (need to finish ink effects)

Finished Blood Angel Objective Markers and Assault Squads

I finished up the objective counters for Adepticon for our Blood Angels.  I like to do 5 because that tends to be the max you'll see in most games.  I think a good looking objective really adds to the game.  Here's the finished product!

I took advantage of the marine casualty pack.  For the banner bearer, it was an easy arm swap.  I had plenty of extra banners from the Sanguinary Guard.  I didn't go the original route though, painted it very similar to my Sanguinary Guard banner.  I also didn't like the hurt marine that was long dead... figured why would anyone fight over a dead marine.  That was an easy head swap.

For the fourth and fifth objective I struggled with what to do, so I went to my bitz box.  I thought the inquisitor "Book of Knowledge" might be something worth going after.  Finally I grabbed one of the Blood Bowl trophies as well as an arcane candle thing. Maybe it's a chaos shrine full of blood... or my chapter going towards the dark side.

All of the bases were from Scibor Miniatures.  I don't like the fact that they sculpted plants on the base.  Painted plants just don't seem to mesh well.  I guess if I was overly concerned, I could have chopped them out; laziness won over!

Here are the shots of the completed and based assault squads.  For the guys on foot, I magnetized their backpacks so I can swap up with jump packs.  It remains to be seen if I can go through a tournament without losing any.

Right now I'm working on the Nob Bikers for the gladiator list, and a Librarian with a magnatized jump pack for the Adepticon team tournament.  I ultimately decided against the Sanguinator for the team list and for a little more utility of the librarian. More updates tomorrow!

Blood Angels Objective Markers

I whipped up my 5 objective markers for the Blood Angels.  A couple were stretching it, I just didn't have the creative juices flowing on this project like some of the other armies I've done.  I think I'll go back eventually and do a cool statue, I really like how Dave Taylor did his on his Greatsword Unit.  I took the easy route and modified the marine casualties.  I also did a book of knowledge looking one along with a chaos type looking cauldron.  Guess it could be full of blood angels blood... muhahahaha!

It's a little too windy to do any priming outside, so I think I'll head to the Chicago Battle Bunker to get some painting in all day.  It'll keep me focused, this is the weekend to wrap up a bunch of the things I need to get ready for Adepticon.
